FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose Applause Performing Arts?#
There are many dance schools in our local area, but not like ours! Applause families often remark that our students finish every lesson smiling. Positive body image is a huge priority for us, and we also encourage children to act and dress their age.
Age-appropriate routines in performance and competition are a priority at Applause Performing Arts! We provide a community environment where everyone feels included and has their turn at being at the front.
Does my child have to perform in the concert?
#
No, but most students choose to! All classes have a half-yearly performance in uniform to get used to performing in a low-stress environment, and then an end-of-year performance in costume.
This is an exciting day full of fun, allowing our students to showcase all they have learned and accomplished to all their loved ones.
Is it compulsory to wear the Applause Performing Arts uniform?
#
Yes, we ask that your child wear an Applause Performing Arts. This allows us to create a strong team environment and allows us to see correct body alignment for safe dance technique!
Uniform is an Applause leotard or shirt with black Applause leggings or shorts. Tights are also required in ballet for older students, and we have dresses available for our younger students.
Optional uniform extras are also available for sale at Reception.
How many students are in each class?#
Our standard student to teacher ratio is 15:1 for younger classes and up to 20 for older. That means that if there are more than 15 students in a class, a trained assistant teacher will also be in the studio! Sometimes our smaller classes will also have a trained assistant teacher, depending on the age group and style.
Do students at Applause Performing Arts enter Competitions and Eisteddfods?#
Yes! Our main class focus is on non competitive performances, but we offer Troupe classes as an extension class for our more keen students. Performance Team/Troupe classes enter Eisteddfods throughout the year for additional stage experience.
How do you accept payment?#
We offer a fortnightly direct debit payment setup for convenience and ease of payment. You can also elect to pay per term via our friendly admin team.
Where is your End of Year Concert?#
Students prepare to perform in our half-yearly and yearly performances at The Greater Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre in Plumpton High School, which is only a 15-minute drive from our Studio.
What happens if I move away?#
If you move away from the area and our studio can no longer be reasonably accessed by you, we do ask for four weeks' notice. Further information is available by emailing our friendly Admin team at admin@applauseperformingarts.com.au.
What if my child or I am injured and cannot attend classes?#
We welcome injured students to watch class so they can continue learning. Once they are fit to return to class, makeup lessons can also be arranged. Classes can be made up in any style within your students' age group. This can be arranged with our friendly admin team.
Can I pay for casual classes?#
Unfortunately we do not offer casual classes for our normal weekly timetable. However, we offer a monthly heels class and other one time events! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out more.
What is the cancellation policy should I need to cancel?#
There is a four-week cancellation notice period for the three dance terms. Simply email our friendly Admin team at admin@applauseperformingarts.com.au for further details about the cancellation policy.
